Nusa Penida East Tour Destinations
Atuh Beach, or Pantai Atuh, is a hidden beach on the remote south-eastern coast of Nusa Penida island. The beach is secluded by magnificent green cliffs, while various limestone rock formations surround it, adding to the beauty of the area. The white sand beach itself is accessible via a purpose-built stairway, or you can try the narrow tracks along a rugged cliff face if you’re feeling adventurous. The beach is great for relaxing with a spectacular view. However, the waters aren’t always swimmable.
Swimming in the waves beyond the rock pools is not advisable and there are no lifeguards. At times, local vendors are around selling refreshments and snacks on the sand. Like most of the remote beaches on Nusa Penida island, getting to Atuh Beach is best done by motorbike. It’s about a two-hour ride from the main harbour on the island’s northwest coast. The descent to the beach itself is roughly a half-hour trek and the view is worth it, especially if you’re a beach lover.
The name Teletubbies’ Hills is given spontaneously by the visiting tourists, it is merely because of the similarity of its location with the residence of the Teletubbies in television show. As you can see, the mound of the green hills adorning the hills and the close distance between the hills that form semicircle. Even though the hills are made up of limestone, but there is a layer thin of soil so that the grass may grow on it giving the beautiful green nuance in Teletubbies’ Hills. Well, therefore, if you from a distance, this mound of this hills is the more similar to Teletubbies’ Hills, especially during the rainy season because the grass will flourish and envelop the hills. The best time to visit Teletubbies’ Hills in are in the morning and the afternoon, because it will be very hot in the noon and there is no place to shelter from the sun. From the top of Teletubbies’ Hills, you can see the view of the houses of the people of Nusa Penida that look small from the top, and of course, in addition, you can also see the beautiful charming nature view of Nusa Penida.
Molenteng Tree House
Molenteng Hill or often dubbed as the One Thousand Island of Nusa Penida, precisely located at Pelilitan hamlet, Pejukutan, increasingly attracts more travelers. A beautiful sea view and a tree house on the cliff top give satisfaction to lovers of natural beauty.
“Molenteng Hill is also often dubbed as the Raja Ampat of Bali by visitors. Probably it happens because the attraction is similar to the Raja Ampat tourist attraction in Papua,” said the operator and owner of the Bukit Molenteng tourist attraction, I Wayan Natih, recently. Natih said the land area used as the tourist attraction is heritage from his ancestors that is then managed by building several facilities such as a tree house, food stall and convenient gazebo to unwind. Furthermore, he explained that it was originally not an object designated by the government of Klungkung as tourist attraction. However, in harmony with the increasing number of tourist visits to the location, Natih was inspired to make the land area into a tourist object managed in better way.
